A small investment goes a long way. For Juanito Lim, a DepEd school teacher at San Jose Elementary School in Montalban, Rizal, a simple financial assistance paved the way for a better home and a profitable business.
A few years ago, Juanito, his wife Luisa and their eight-year old son lived in a two-story home with a cemented ground level but with a second storey made entirely of wood. Downstairs, Luisa started a small eatery catering to employees that worked at a newly opened mall nearby. The house was old and termites were eating away at the wooden top level. The roof was also in dire need of repair.
Then, in 2010, Juanito decided it was time for a renovation. The old walls creaked at strong winds and the roof leaked whenever there was rain. Luisa suggested they contact Danny Fermia, a Financial Consultant, about availing of a financial assistance from Philippine Life.
“Sa tulong ng Philippine Life, nakapag-renovate kami ng bahay at napalago namin yung eatery business,” Juanito enthused. Initially, the plan was just to repair the roof and wood walls. But with the loan amount they received, they decided to renovate their entire home completely.
Today, Juanito and Luisa’s home is made entirely of cement with the ground floor providing a wider area for eatery customers. Their son sleeps better with walls that protect and a roof that doesn’t leak. Juanito continues, “Kung hindi sa Philippine Life, hindi kami nakapagpatayo ng bagong bahay.”
The husband and wife team continue to enjoy daily profits from their eatery, especially during peak days of the week. The loan they availed of also came with a VISA 40 plan which gives a maturity benefit for retirement. Juanito encourages his fellow teachers to also avail of the same Philippine Life policy.
Juanito adds, “Sa Philippine Life, mababa ang interest at mataas ang pwedeng mai-loan.” Philippine Life helps DepEd teachers easily pursue their goals such as putting up a house or business for their future.
Juanito and Luisa plan to expand their business, adding more items for sale and improving their displays. With their fruitful partnership with Philippine Life, their dreams for a better future are already coming true.
